Unfortunately, women tend to have sexually transmitted infections without having any symptoms. Infections that are left untreated often lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID), which is a common cause of pelvic pain and infertility.
ACOG (American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology) recommends testing of all women yearly under the age of 25.
