Benefits & Outcomes

Coordinated Screening Pathway

Your Pap result, any HPV result and the follow-up plan are reviewed by your provider, and our office contacts you to schedule the next step.

In-Office Colposcopy

Colposcopy with biopsy is performed in our office, so evaluation of an abnormal Pap does not require an outside facility. Dr. Olga Swanson, MD, FACOG, is a board-certified OB/GYN.

Prioritized Follow-Up

Abnormal results are prioritized when we schedule follow-up visits. Call (713) 485-4302 if you received an abnormal result elsewhere and would like it evaluated.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my Pap smear is abnormal?▾

Your provider reviews the result together with your HPV status and history. Depending on the findings, the next step may be closer screening or a colposcopy, which we perform at our Katy Freeway office. Our office contacts you to schedule the follow-up.

Do I need colposcopy after every abnormal Pap?▾

Not always. Mild changes or an HPV-positive result without visible abnormality may be managed with closer screening intervals. Your provider discusses your specific result, HPV status and risk factors to decide the best next step.

How long does a colposcopy take?▾

A typical colposcopy exam takes about 10 to 20 minutes. If a biopsy is needed, it adds a few minutes. It is done in our office, and most patients return to normal activity right after the visit.

Can I schedule screening and follow-up with one call?▾

Yes. Call (713) 485-4302 or send a request through our contact form. Our office books your screening visit, and if a result needs follow-up, we contact you to schedule it.
