Uterine fibroids, are usually none cancerous growths in the uterus. We are unsure what causes them, although studies have shown that hormones (estrogen and progesterone) play a role in their growth.
Fibroids, may stay small and not cause a woman any problems. Other times, they can grow and cause pelvic pain, pain with intercourse, infertility and heavy menstrual cycles.
There are many options that are available for treatment. Depending on the size and the location of the fibroid, Dr Swanson may offer a hysteroscopic or laparoscopic removal of the ficroid, or in the most advance cases a hysterectomy.
